iPhone: The Next Ad Network?

Mobile Marketing Watch had an article up today about iPhone Users Most Willing to Purchase Content. This piece got me thinking because this moring I read about a new app launched that is from a skateboard magazine called Concrete Wave. The iPhone app has digital versions of ads from the magazine and is in the testing phase right now. I stated to wonder if you start to connect the two pieces where things might be headed for the iPhone App Store.

58% of adults surveyed admitted being willing to pay for online or mobile access to a film freshly released in theaters. 52% expressed willingness to pay for access to a film that won’t be released on DVD for at least two months. And 40% would be agreeable to paying for access to a film already on DVD or pay-per-view.

Could we be far behind from another Virgin Atlantic + CP+B advertising moment? People are willing to pay for content it seems. Also if your users are using their mobile device more then other digital displays. All it takes is one really uniquly crafted advertisement to get people to download and watch it. We tell clients to go where their consumers are and we know mobile is making a bigger beachhead with each passing day. How long before CP+B or another firm creates an ad that really spreads on mobile devices?
