Why Google’s Local Business Center is Great for Local SEO.

I was recently looking over my analytics account and noticed I was getting a lot more traffic for one of my keywords. After doing some digging I noticed that my new local business center ad for Creative Traction was driving the new traffic. In the last 30 days I’ve gotten about 200 impressions and 4 views, which isn’t super high but a 2% CTR is nothing to sneeze at. There are a few reasons Google’s local business center is great for driving local traffic:

Free: It’s free to get added to Google’s Local Business Center listing. You get to add a link back to your website, which is great for helping build up your SEO and all this is costing your nothing.

Easy Setup: The setup process takes less then a couple minutes and Google helps you with picking the words that your business gets tagged with.

No Maintenance: The best part is that this doesn’t require a huge amount of maintenance from the end user. It’s not like running an AdWords campaign that require a daily or at least a weekly check in on your part. You can pretty much set it and forget it. You may want to adjust it as your business grows but this won’t happen on a regular bases.

Companies that only deal in local business need ways to attract people to their site. Other than optimizing your website what options do you have? I think Google’s local business center is one of those ways. There are a few other options, which I’ll go into in another post but for right now I think you should go and setup your company with a local business center listing on Google.
